Page County deputy named Front Royal police chief

March 27, 1986 — Larry W. Daniel, a former deputy with the Page County Sheriff ’s Department, was appointed Monday night as Front Royal’s chief of police.

Daniel, a 37-year- old Front Royal resident, served under former Page County Sheriff Ray Dodson from 1976-79.

He joined the 30-officer Front Royal Police Department as a patrolman in 1979 and shortly thereafter was promoted to sergeant in charge of both the uniform and criminal investigation divisions.

From 1980-83, Daniel served as a lieutenant and in August 1984 he was named deputy chief.

In November 1985, Front Royal Police Chief Milton Robinson retired due to health reasons and Daniel was named acting chief.

Daniel served in that capacity until Monday’s meeting.

Daniel is a 1966 graduate of Page County High School.
