LURAY, Dec. 6 — This week “Page Valley Livin'” visits with Katie McDaniel of Luray Caverns and Dennis Fleming of the Caverns Shrine Club to preview this weekend’s special holiday experience — “Caroling in the Caverns” from 6 to 8 p.m. this Saturday, Dec. 9.

Recorded in the “Discovery Room” where tours of Luray Caverns begin and end, we talk with Katie and Dennis about the origins of the now annual holiday event, who will be performing on Saturday evening, and who the proceeds will directly benefit.

Area musicians and choirs will be performing holiday and traditional classics from Christmas carols to bluegrass favorites. The echoes off stalactites and stalagmites offer a truly unique holiday and auditory experience.

In addition, all proceeds raised through the $20 per person fee will benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children. Dennis will tell us more about what these donations truly mean to these children and their families.

The local Shriner and the Caverns rep also agree to play “The5Ws” with us, as we quiz them on a holiday version of Who, What, When, Where and Why. We discuss favorite Christmas movies, when they started decorating for Christmas, and why it’s important to support Shriners Hospitals for Children.

As always, we’ll look at “the week that was” in the Page Valley with a review of news headlines and sports, and we’ll tell you about some upcoming events to look out for this weekend.

(Page Valley Livin’ ~ Episode 7 was recorded on Tuesday, Dec. 5 and first aired Wednesday, Dec. 6).
