Age 82, Luray, Va.
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Retta Jane Woodward Miller of Luray, Virginia. Jane passed away May 14, 2025, at the age of 82.
Jane was born April 6, 1943, into a large and loving family of the late Virgil Leo Woodward and Evelyn Marston Woodward. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Roger Wayne Miller, Sr., and their three children: Roger Wayne Miller, Jr., and wife Dawn, Lisa Miller Heiser and husband Kevin, and Susan Miller Saxon and husband Jason.
Jane is also survived by her sisters, Dawn Campbell, Ina Heubach and husband John, Meda Bailey, and Vicki Gochenour and husband Gerald. She was preceded in death by her sister, Anna Lee Presgraves, and brothers-in-law Wayne Campbell and Edward Bailey.
Family was a significant part of Jane’s life. She is known as “Aunt Jane” to numerous nieces and nephews and as “Granny” to her six grandchildren: Rowan Miller, Madison Heiser, April Miller, Natalie Heiser, Megan Saxon, and Tyler Saxon.
Jane has always called Luray her home. She was a person who loved to cook and to take care of her family. She enjoyed painting china, decorating cakes, and always had an open home with plenty of food for entertaining.
Growing up, Jane was a Majorette for the Luray Drum and Bugle Corps as well as a cheerleader for Luray High School. Those who knew Jane will miss her dearly, but she will always be in our hearts. We know that she will always be cheering us on until we meet again in heaven!
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Luray Christian Church on Sunday, May 18th. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, May 19th, at 2 p.m. at the Luray Christian Church with interment at Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking memorial contributions be made to Doug Gochenour Ministries (http://www.dgmin.org/).
Arrangements are being handled by The Bradley Funeral Home in Luray, Va.
