Right-of-way disputes over power line

Luray-Cave Hill

April 9, 1987 — Two of the landowners made modest gains last week in the right-of- way disputes involving Potomac Edison’s 138-kilovolt power line.

In each of the seven cases pitting PE against holdout landowners, county jurors serving as commissioners determine the fair market value of the easement and assign dollar values to any property damage incurred.

The commissioners viewed each property and heard testimony in Page County Circuit Court. PE’s cases against the four other landowners still are pending in Page County Circuit Court.

The landowners rejected the offers, prompting PE to seek court rulings on the compensation.
