Search for zinc

Shenandoah river

July 8, 1965 — A number of readers have inquired the exact location of zinc explorations which were reported last week as two and a half miles northwest of Luray along the Shenandoah River.

The explorations are being done by the Runyon-Windolph Exploration Company. The location is on the east side of the river at Ruffner’s Ferry.

The land was leased by the company from Mrs. Mary R. Brubaker’s estate, Francis Brown and Lawrence Kibler and totals about 265 ares.

A vein of zinc has been found according to reliable reports but it has not yet been determined whether it is commercially available.
