November grand jury issues 37 indictments against 23 individuals
• Christopher Richard Van Nest, of Grottoes, Va., was indicted on two unclassified felonies for two counts of distributing or selling for profit a Schedule I/II drug. Both offenses and an arrest occurred on July 5, 2025, according to court records. Van Nest is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2026 for a one-day jury trial.
• Christi Lyn Smith, of Luray, Va., was indicted on two unclassified felonies for two counts of distributing or selling for profit a Schedule I/II drug. Both offenses and an arrest occurred on July 5, 2025, according to court records. Smith is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2025 for a hearing.
• Rhonda Elizabeth Dovel, of Luay, Va., was indicted on an unclassified felony for possession with intent to manufacture a Schedule I/II drug and a Class 6 felony for nonviolent felon possession of a gun (more than 10 years since felony conviction). Both offenses and an arrest occurred on March 12, 2025, according to court documents. Dovel is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2025 for a hearing.
• Brandi Bailey Aleshire, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on May 19, 2025, according to court documents, with no arrest date listed. After the Nov. 5 indictment was ruled a true bill, a pre-trial motion the same day was approved to nolle prosequi — or not prosecute — the case.
• Tabitha Yvonne Breeden, of Elkton, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and an arrest occurred on May 1, 2025, according to court records. Breeden is scheduled to appear in court again at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2025 for a status hearing.
• Ginger Lee Cook, of Harrisonburg, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and an arrest occurred on May 19, 2025, according to court records. Cook is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2025 for a hearing.
• Floyd Adam Coppage , of Shenandoah, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and an arrest occurred on July 29, 2025, according to court records. Coppage is scheduled to appear in court again at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 2, 2025 for a specialty docket.
• Toni Marie Costello, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and an arrest occurred on June 27, 2025, according to court records. Costello is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2025 for a hearing.

• Lena Jeanette McAlister, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on March 26, 2025, according to court records, with an arrest on July 16, 2025. • Brittany Leigh McCoy, of Shenandoah, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and an arrest occurred on March 25, 2025, according to court records. On Nov. 12, McCoy entered a guilty plea and was sentenced to three years in the penitentiary, with three years suspended, and two years of supervised probation.
• Sasha Kristi Porter, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on Aug. 29, 2025, according to court records, with an arrest on Aug. 30, 2025. Porter is scheduled to appear in court again at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2025 for a specialty docket.
• Carrie Ann Reel, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on a Class 6 felony for driving while intoxicated (DWI – 3rd or subsequent offense). The offense and an arrest occurred on Aug. 3, 2025, according to court records. Reel is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026 for a hearing.
• Larry Adam Shifflett, of Elkton, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and an arrest occurred on July 29, 2025, according to court records. Shifflett is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025 for a hearing.
• Brittany Grace Stokes, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on July 21, 2025, according to court records, with an arrest on Aug. 30, 2025. Stokes is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2025 for a hearing.
