LURAY, Oct. 7 — Virginia State Police is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred Oct. 7, 2026, at approximately 8:59 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 340 and North Collins Avenue in Page County.
A Chevrolet Silverado was heading northbound on U.S. 340 when it was unable to avoid a ZDZA E-bike that had pulled into the intersection from Collins Avenue. There is a stop sign on Collins Avenue but there is no stop sign on U.S. 340.
The driver of the E-bike, Franklin L. Payton, 63, of Luray, Va., died at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
