SHENANDOAH — Due to the high probability of inclement weather on Tuesday afternoon, the 2A state semifinal in baseball has been postponed to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Page County High School.

The Panthers (10-3) will host Region 2A champion Poquoson.

“Based on the weather forecast of rain tomorrow and sun on Wednesday, the Class 2A state baseball semifinal game at Page scheduled for 6 p.m. tomorrow has been postponed to Wednesday at 6 p.m.,” reads an email statement from PCHS Athletic Director Keith Cubbage. “All online tickets for this game will be accepted as the VHSL will adjust the date.”

The Islanders enter Wednesday’s semifinal after capturing the Region 2A title over Nandua by a slim 5-4 margin. In the region championship, Poquoson scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh and won on a walk-off RBI single. Tyler Greene went 2-for-3 on the day with an RBI.

The Panthers (11-3) are coming off a 9-1 win at Buckingham to claim the Region 2B title. Page’s bats were lively with 14 hits on the day, including a 3-for-3 performance by senior southpaw T.R. Williams who also earned the win on the hill. The Virginia Tech commit allowed one run on three hits, while striking out 11.

T.R.’s younger brother Lance is likely to get the start on Wednesday. The sophomore was named the Bull Run District “Player of the Year” and threw a complete game shutout in the region semifinal, allowing only one hit while striking out 13 and giving up no walks.

ALL TICKETS TO WEDNESDAY’S STATE SEMIFINAL MUST BE PURCHASED ONLINE (E-TICKETS) IN ADVANCE. THERE WILL BE NO TICKETS FOR SALE AT THE GATE.
