Still no pavement

Luray-Main St old

February 20, 1889 — No pavement in East End yet.

All through the winter have the people in that section been compelled to wade in the middle of the street through mud often shoe deep.

Such treatment by our Town Council has been simply exasperating to the people of that section.

Not one cent of the taxes paid by that section since the incorporation of the town has been spent for the improvement of East End, except the cost of a few loads of tan bark, and a few dollars appropriated toward this digging of a well, while the people have opened streets at their own expense and built up the biggest part of the town since that time.

When will the council finish, at least, the projected pavement?
