Age 88, Luray, Va.
Sylvia Ellen Shaffer Knight, 88, of Luray, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at Skyview Springs Nursing and Rehab in Luray.
She was born on December 31, 1937, in Luray and was a daughter of the late Bergie Floyd Shaffer and Ela Miller Shaffer.
Sylvia is survived by two sons, Kent Knight of Stanley, and Alan Knight of Harrisonburg; two daughters, Sherry Moats of Harrisonburg, and Sue Rascoe of Norfolk; a sister, Janice Baggett of Rileyville; eight grandchildren, D.J. Lester, Tyler Knight, Christian Knight, Dakota Knight, David Rascoe, Alexander Rascoe, Alexis Moats and Isaiah Moats; and one great-grandchild, Jaycee Lester.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Nina Martin, Joyce Miller and Verda Shaffer; and three brothers, Garrison Shaffer, David Shaffer and Kenneth Shaffer.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, at the Stanley Baptist Church.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 10, at the Stanley Baptist Church by Pastor Bobby Wade and Evangelist Doug Gochenour. Burial will be in the Morning Star Lutheran Cemetery in Luray.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tyler Knight, Christian Knight, Dakota Knight, Isaiah Moats, Trey Chappell, Bobby Roberts and Mark McClung.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Stanley Baptist Church.
Arrangements are being handled by the Bradley Funeral Home in Luray, Va.
