February 3, 1966 — Thirteen persons marooned at Page Valley Estates since last Saturday where brought out of the area Tuesday after highway machines finally penetrated the deep drifts on this rural road. Located about 11 miles northwest of Luray the weekenders were reported getting short on food and fuel.
Snow which gained blizzard-like proportions and brought zero temperates kept the Shenandoah Valley and much of Virginia pretty much immobilized over the weekend. Fourteen and a half inches of light snow began falling Saturday morning on top of two previous falls measuring 12-1/2 inches and continued throughout most of Saturday night.
