July 27, 1961 — A new use for by-products from animal hides may be on the horizon as the result of research done at the Virginia Oak Tannery and the Virginia Polytechnic Institute.

The product is a new type of feed for poultry which utilizes hide fleshings.

George Collin, chemist at the Virginia Oak Tannery, says that to date the product has been confined to pilot plant manufacture for testing purposes and experiment, which are working out well and have considerable promise.
