Weekly YouTube show dives into various issues, sites and events in the Page Valley
By Randy Arrington
LURAY, May 13 — This week we visit with Officer Skye and Officer Summer, two sister chocolate labradors who joined the Luray Police Department’s K-9 unit in recent weeks. We’ll learn where and how they were trained, how well they have done since being on the job, and see a demonstration as they infiltrate and investigate the scene of a Luray Rotary Club meeting.
The LPD will hold a “meet-and-greet” for the new officers and their handlers — Officer Munson and Officer Vickers — at noon on Saturday, May 16 at the Mechanic Street parking lot along the Hawksbill Greenway. LPD will honor “Boone” a former K-9 officer that succumbed to cancer and ask that visitors bring donations for the Page County Animal Shelter. The shelter needs food for cats and dogs (puppies and adults, wet and dry), as well as cleaning supplies (paper towels, dryer sheets, bleach, Clorox wipes), and toys for the animals.
(Page Valley Livin’~Episode 116 was recorded Monday, May 11, and aired Wednesday, May 13, 2026).
Coming up on Page Valley Livin’… we’ll discuss the opening of the Hawksbill Pool and its long-term outlook in Stanley, and visit the Shenandoah Memorial Parade.
The aim and purpose of these videos is to provide more information about more things that make up the wonderful place we call the Page Valley of Virginia. Serious issues will be handled seriously, while lighter issues may offer more opportunity to have some fun. There is no theme or agenda other than promoting the Page Valley, and trying to better inform the people who both live here and those who love to visit.
