Weekly YouTube show dives into various issues, sites and events in the Page Valley

By Randy Arrington

LURAY, July 17 — This weekend about 16,000 among Hazzard Nation are expected to descend upon the Page Valley over two days for the 25th anniversary celebration of Cooter’s in the Valley. We’ll talk with “Miss Alma” about the details of the festival, including autograph opportunities with Daisy and Luke Duke, as well as performance times for Whey Jennings and Confederate Railroad. She also recalls the first Cooter’s store opened in Rappahannock County and expansion into Tennessee, previous Hazzard festivals from Luray to Nashville, and she shares some insights on cast members.

In addition to Cooter’s two-day festival at the Page Valley fairgrounds, we also take a quick look at the “week that was” in the Page Valley with a review of news headlines and sports, while also taking a look at “the weekend ahead” with upcoming events on a busy weekend in the Valley.

(Page Valley Livin’ ~ Episode 30 was recorded Wednesday, July 17 and first aired Wednesday, July 17).

Coming up on Page Valley Livin’… we’re working on a tour of Yagers Spring and plans for the Hawksbill Greenway extension, and interviews with local candidates in contested council races this fall. We’re also open to ideas…if you have one for an upcoming show — an interesting person you know (or want to know) with an interesting story — send us an email or provide a comment below.

The aim and purpose of these videos is to provide more information about more things that make up the wonderful place we call the Page Valley of Virginia. Serious issues will be handled seriously, while lighter issues may offer more opportunity to have some fun. There is no theme or agenda other than promoting the Page Valley, and trying to better inform the people who both live here and those who love to visit.
