Weekly YouTube show dives into various issues in the Page Valley, while also reporting the Week in Review and checking out the Weekend Ahead

By Randy Arrington

LURAY, Feb. 28 — After serving 14 years on the Luray Council and retiring from more than four decades in education, Ron Vickers has decided to run for mayor of Luray in the 2024 election.

We’ll talk with the current vice mayor about what he’s learned during his time on council, and what he hopes to accomplish as mayor. We’ll also explore his background in education, where he’s taught, and how it’s influenced his time on council. We’ll even talk about a time capsule.

Vickers also plays “The 5Ws” with us and reveals who inspired him to enter public service, his proudest moment on council, and where he likes to take the family in Luray.

As always, we’ll look back at “the week that was” in the Page Valley with a review of news headlines and sports, and we’ll tell you about some upcoming events to look out for this weekend.

(Page Valley Livin’ ~ Episode 15 was recorded on Monday, Feb. 26 and first aired Wednesday, Feb. 28).

Coming up on Page Valley Livin’… next week we’ll talk with the folks organizing a huge Job Fair at Laurel Ridge Community College’s Jenkins Hall in Luray in mid-March.

We’re also open to ideas…if you have one for an upcoming show — an interesting person you know (or want to know) with an interesting story — send us an email or provide a comment below.

The aim and purpose of these videos is to provide more information about more things that make up the wonderful place we call the Page Valley of Virginia.
