Allen Clinton Lam (Satch), 89, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family, leaving a legacy of hard work, resilience, and devotion to family. Born March 27, 1937, in Page County, he grew up in Elkton and attended Shenandoah High School. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mae; parents, Eugene and Oneeda Lam; brother, Roger; brother-in-law, Everett Mowbray; and grandchildren, Stephanie Morris, Kiptyn Lam, and Magnolia Lam.

On March 30, 1957, he married his beloved wife of 49 years, Anna Mae Rankin. As a young man, Allen worked for Fruit Growers Express in Alexandria, Virginia and did construction work in New York with his brother-in-law, James Rankin (Junior) before returning to Virginia. His career included local construction with his brother-in-law Alvin Rankin, a second stint at Fruit Growers Express, and working for Amtrak at Union Station in Washington, DC. He eventually returned to the Shenandoah Valley to work for DuPont, where he proudly earned his GED before retiring. 

Allen loved reading, crossword puzzles, and fishing for native and stocked trout. One of his favorite things to do was driving across the Skyline Drive. He and Anna Mae spent many days going to their favorite place looking for morels, sometimes taking their grandchildren along and weekly trips to Rudy’s Diner, Mamma Mia’s and Lisa’s Hometown Grill.

He is survived by his six children; Gail Ross, Sandra Showalter (Wayne), Bradley Lam (Susie Johnson), Nancy Ferguson (Ronnie), Beverly Dean, and Bryan Lam (Kirsten); 10 grandchildren; Chris Meadows, Amber Wampler, Jason Showalter, Matthew Showalter, Jessica Meadows Lam, Nathan Dean, Lindsey Herrity, Lauren Lam, Bryan Kooper Lam and Elijah Lam; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Elwood (Barbara) Lam; sister, Shirley Mowbray; and sister-in-law, Mary Lam.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m., Friday, June 12, 2026 at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton with Pastor Carter Dean officiating. 

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 11, 2026 at the funeral home.
