June 30, 1966 — While the water supply for the Town of Luray is not yet in a critical situation, continued drought and excessive use could result in a serious shortage unless everyone cooperates.
Town Manager Pittman stated that they were anxious to avoid imposing any official curb on the use of water, but warned that the reservoir is below the overflow level and that the town was pumping water from Hite’s Spring 24 hours a day at times.
The situation will be relived when pumping can begin from Hudson Spring.
Right now Pittman asks that everyone conserve the available supply of water by refraining from excessive use and unnecessary washing down of sidewalks, automobiles, etc.
