January 19, 1911 — The Board of Supervisors, we understand, has about completed arrangements for the purchase of a road grader, one of the modern methods for improving highways.
Substantial evidence may be had that Springfield District will be the first to give the machine a chance to show itself, thanks to Supervisor Cullers.
The cost is said to be $225, and with an expenditure of $300, including a traction engine and two or three men to accompany the outfit to do some of the work that cannot be done by any machine.
About 80 miles of road can be worked in five days that would require a large number of men a time running into weeks to accomplish.
