Abduction, assault, strangulation and child abuse among December’s 75 indictments

LURAY, Dec. 6 — Members of a grand jury in Page County Circuit Court issued a true bill on a total of 75 indictments handed down Wednesday, Dec. 6 on charges placed among 26 individuals.

Those indicted by the Dec. 6 grand jury include:

• Seth Allen Davis, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for abduction by force or intimidation, six Class 6 felonies for wounding by strangulation with an injury resulting, and four Class 1 misdemeanors for the assault and battery of a family member. The charges stem from incidents ranging from Nov. 11, 2021 to Oct. 25, 2022, according to court records, with arrests on Aug. 30, 2023 and Oct. 4, 2023. Davis was scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023 for a hearing.

Richard Dwaine Knotts, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 3 felony for malicious wounding, a Class 5 felony for abduction by force or intimidation, three Class 6 felonies for wounding by strangulation with injury resulting, three Class 1 misdemeanors for the assault and battery of a family member, and another Class 1 misdemeanor for damaging a phone line to prevent a 911 call. Incidents on Aug. 4, 2022 and Sept. 2, 2022 prompted charges for both strangulation and assault and battery on each date, according to court records, while all five other charges stem from an incident on Jan. 6, 2023. The arrest date listed for all charges is March 24, 2023. Knotts was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023 to appoint counsel. He is also scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024 for a hearing.

Anthony Wayne Jones, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug, three Class 6 felonies for child abuse (disregard for life), three Class 1 misdemeanors for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a Class 1 misdemeanor for driving while intoxicated (first offense), and another Class 1 misdemeanor for driving while his operator’s license was suspended or revoked. The drug possession, child abuse and delinquency offenses occurred on June 19, 2023, according to court records, with an arrest on Oct. 20, 2023. The two driving offenses and an arrest occurred on May 28, 2023, according to court records. Jones was scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023 for a hearing.

Adrienne Ellen Wigington, of Luray, Va., was indicted on seven unclassified felonies for the distribution or sale for profit of a Schedule I/II drug. Three offenses occurred on May 14, 2021, according to court records, two on May 21, 2021 and two others on May 27, 2021. The arrest date listed for all offenses is Dec. 7, 2023, although those same records indicate that Wigington was taken into custody via a capias warrant on Dec. 11, 2023. Wigington is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 5, 2024 for a hearing.

Brice William Dodson, of Elkton, Va., was indicted on three unclassified felonies for entering a structure to commit assault and battery (one count), and two counts of grand larceny of property valued at more than $1,000 (not on person); a Class 5 felony for entering a structure to commit assault and battery; and a Class 6 felony for destruction of property (monument). All five offenses occurred on March 11, 2023, according to court records, with an arrest on Sept. 22, 2023. Dodson is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024 for a hearing.

Robert Lynn Kibler, (address not listed), was indicted on three unclassified felonies for the distribution or sale for profit of a Schedule I/II drug. The three offenses occurred on Nov. 2, 2022, Nov. 18, 2022 and Dec. 2, 2022, according to court records. An arrest date of Dec. 8, 2023 is listed for all three offenses; however, those same court records indicate that Kibler was taken into custody via a capias warrant on Dec. 11, 2023. Kibler was scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023 to appoint counsel.

Gary Wayne Cubbage Jr., of Stanley, Va., was indicted on two unclassified felonies for possession with intent to manufacture a Schedule I/II drug and the distribution or sale for profit of a Schedule II drug; and a Class 6 felony for the possession of a gun while in possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The two possession offenses occurred on Aug. 8, 2023, according to court records, with an arrest on Aug. 10, 2023. The distribution charge occurred on Dec. 7, 2021, according to court records, with an arrest on Aug. 8, 2023. Cubbage is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024 for a hearing.

• Alexander Ray West, of Laurel, Md., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for failure to stop at the scene of an accident with damage greater than $1,000; a Class 6 felony for eluding or disregarding police; a Class 1 misdemeanor for driving while intoxicated (DWI) with a blood alcohol content (BAC) over .20 percent; and a Class 1 misdemeanor for reckless driving (speeding 20-plus mph above posted speed limit). All four offenses occurred on April 3, 2023, according to court records, with an arrest on April 4, 2023. West was scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023 for a hearing.

• Joshua Raymond Jenkins, of Timberville, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug and a Class 1 misdemeanor for identity theft (obtaining ID to avoid arrest). Both offenses and an arrest occurred on Oct. 2, 2023, according to court records. Jenkins was scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023 for a hearing.

• Melissa K. Claytor, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug and a Class 6 felony for nonviolent felony possession of a gun within 10 years of being convicted of a felony. Both offenses and an arrest occurred on June 13, 2023, according to court records. Claytor was scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023 to appoint counsel.

• Scott Anthony Claytor, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug and a Class 6 felony for the violent felony possession or transport of a weapon. Both offenses and an arrest occurred on June 13, 2023, according to court records. Claytor is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024 for a hearing on the drug possession charge. He is also scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 for a trial on the weapon charge.

• Adam Westley Williams, of Shenandoah, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug and a Class 6 felony for nonviolent felony possession of a gun within 10 years of being convicted of a felony. Both offenses and an arrest occurred on Feb. 28, 2023, according to court records. Williams was scheduled to appear in court again at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024 for a hearing.

• Jessica Dawn White, of Luray, Va., was indicted on two Class 5 felonies for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. One offense occurred on March 2, 2023, according to court records, with an arrest on Aug. 17, 2023; while the second offense occurred on Aug. 17, 2023, with an arrest on Aug. 21, 2023. White is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024 for a hearing.

• Dwayne Dovel, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on an unclassified felony for the distribution or sale for profit of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on Oct. 4, 2022, according to court records, with an arrest date listed of Dec. 8, 2023; however, those same records indicate that Dovel was taken into custody under a capias warrant on Dec. 11, 2023. Dovel is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024 for a hearing.

• Curtis Lee Wright, of Elkton, Va., was indicted on an unclassified felony for the manufacture or distribution of a Schedule I/II drug (second offense). The offense and an arrest occurred on Aug. 17, 2023, according to court records. Wright is scheduled to appear in court again at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2024 to appoint counsel.

• Trucker Lane Aleshire, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for the possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on Aug. 8, 2023, according to court records, with an arrest on Aug. 10, 2023. Aleshire is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024 for a hearing.

• Shawn Edward Davis, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on an unclassified felony for possession with intent to manufacture a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and an arrest occurred on March 8, 2023, according to court records. Davis was scheduled to appear in court again at 9 .m. on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023 for a hearing.

• Nicholas Robert Foster, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for the possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on Aug. 28, 2023, according to court records, with an arrest on Sept. 26, 2023. Foster is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2024 for a hearing.

• Alethea Nicole Heishman, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for the possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and an arrest occurred on Nov. 20, 2023, according to court records. Heishman is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024 for a hearing.

• Ashley Kline, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for the possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on Aug. 8, 2023, according to court records, with an arrest on Aug. 14, 2023. Kline is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024 for a hearing.

• David Wade Lam, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for the possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on March 8, 2023, according to court records, with an arrest on Dec. 13, 2023 via a capias warrant issued on Dec. 6. Lam is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 for a status hearing.

• Jackie Lavonne Myers, of Elkton, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for the possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and an arrest occurred on Aug. 10, 2023, according to court records. Myers was scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023 for a hearing.

• Rachel Michelle Shawver, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for the possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on Aug. 28, 2023, according to court records, with an arrest on Sept. 26, 2023. On Dec. 13, 2023, Shawver plead guilty and was sentenced to three years in the penitentiary, with two years and nine months suspended, and three years of supervised probation.

• Thomas Edward Showers, of Front Royal, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for the possession of a Schedule I/II drug, and an unclassified misdemeanor for failure to appear/contempt of court on Dec. 6. The possession offense and an arrest occurred on June 11, 2023, according to court records. A capias warrant was issued for Showers arrest on Dec. 6, and court records indicate that pre-trial motions were denied during a Dec. 11 hearing. No further court dates are listed.

• Damien Rex Thompson, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for the possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on Oct. 4, 2023, according to court records, with an arrest on Oct. 8, 2023. On Dec. 7, 2023, Thompson plead guilty and was sentenced to two years in the penitentiary, with two years suspended and three years of supervised probation.

• Herschel Alden Williams, of McGaheysville, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for the possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on June 16, 2023, according to court records, with an arrest on June 27, 2023. Williams is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024 for a hearing.

Grand jury hearings are held the first Wednesday of each month in Page County Circuit Court.
