$15 admission includes free raffle ticket for great prizes; proceeds benefit environmental scholarships and land preservation

LURAY — The Hill and Valley Garden Club will host its annual fundraiser “Garden Lover’s Day” — rain or shine — from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday, May 17 at the Birdsong Pleasure Garden.

The 3-acre private garden along Longs Road created and cultivated by Lesley and Tom Mack provides a picturesque setting for Garden Lovers to enjoy artisans, plants, music, garden tours, a raffle and door prizes.

Normally toured only by appointment, attendees on Saturday can see what creativity and patience can do with 3 acres. The Birdsong Pleasure Garden includes a variety of picturesque native gardens, broad mountain vistas, and unique water features; while walking along both open and shaded strolling paths.

Vendors will be on site Saturday, such as Jewell Hollow Jewelry, Starlight Moon Fiber Arts, Walking Mall Poet, Debra Sheffer/Plen Air, Simple Pleasures Soaps & Salves, LGC Tool Sharpening, Wisteria Vineyards, and Blissful Blender Food Truck.

The event will be held at 1414 Longs Road near Luray, and admission is $15. That includes a free raffle ticket and a chance to win terrific prizes from more than 20 vendors from throughout the Shenandoah Valley and beyond. Parking is free. A tool-sharpening service will be offered for $5, so bring those dull pruners and clippers.

Garden Lovers Day serves as the major fundraiser for the Hill and Valley Garden Club, with proceeds going to local scholarships and land preservation.

The site does not include restrooms. Hats help with gnats and the sun (hopefully).
