LURAY, Feb. 28 — The Luray-Page County Chamber of Commerce will host its sixth annual Job Fair and Workshop from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8 at Laurel Ridge Community College’s Jenkins Hall, 200 College Drive in Luray.

At least 30 business and agencies will be represented at the event, which is being sponsored by Syntelligent Analytic Solutions. Participants will be able to to get help with job search assistance, resume building and review, application assistance, GED assistance, help with setting up or expanding your own business, explore Laurel Ridge Community College for college classes or trades classes, and get a chance to interact and build relationships with multiple employers.

“Whether you’re interested in working for a startup or a large organization, or if you just need a refresher on how to build an eye-catching resume, we invite you to come out and join us for our job fair and workshop,” reads promotional material from the Chamber on the March 8 event.

Attendees are encouraged to bring multiple cover letters and resumes.

“If you are a business that is looking for new employees, we invite you to set up a table for this year’s job fair,” the Chamber’s promotional material states. “Attended by students from Luray High School, Page County High School, Mt. Carmel Christian Academy and Laurel Ridge Community College, as well as the community at large, you will have the opportunity to meet potential employees.”

Employers may attend to increase job seeker awareness about their organization, to identify potential candidates for future hiring needs, and to fill specific positions they may currently have available. About 10 spots remain available for any business or organization that would like to participate, but they must sign up by Friday, March 3 to ensure that a booth space is reserved.

“A job fair is an event that gives students and employers a chance to meet one another, establish professional relationships, and discuss potential job and/or internship opportunities,” Chamber President Gina Hilliard said. “There are some amazing jobs right here in Page County. You don’t have to leave the area to get a great job with benefits.”

“Even if you are not actually looking for a job, this could help build experience, interview skills and relationships for future employment,” Hilliard said. “It could help students get more comfortable and build for something down the road.”
