Grand jury hands down 33 indictments against 19 individuals in April session

LURAY, April 12 — A Page County grand jury handed down 33 indictments among 19 individuals during last Wednesday’s April 7 session in Page County Circuit Court , including:

Scott Keith Curtis, of Shenandoah, Va., was indicted for strangulation with wound or injury resulting, a Class 6 felony, as well as assault and battery of a family member, a Class 1 misdemeanor. In both cases, the offense took place on Oct. 27, 2020, according to court records, with an arrest date of Oct. 30, 2020. Curtis is scheduled to appear in court again on April 14 for a status hearing.

Dennis Wayne High, of Luray, Va., was indicted on two felonies including strangulation with a wound or injury resulting (Class 6 felony) and possession of a Schedule I/II drug (Class 5 felony). Both offenses occurred on Jan. 21, 2021, according to court records, with an arrest date of Jan. 22 for strangulation and Jan. 21 for drug possession. High is scheduled to appear in court again on May 5 for further proceedings.

Raymond Lee Staubs, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 6 felony for assault and battery of a family member (third or subsequent offense). The incident occurred on Sept. 8, 2020, according to court documents, with an arrest date of Nov. 9, 2020. No future court date was listed.

Judy Ann Lonas, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on a Class 4 felony for abuse of an incapacitated adult causing injury. Both the offense and an arrest occurred on July 8, 2020, according to court records. Lonas is scheduled to appear in court again on April 28 for further proceedings.

Ronnie Lee Knowles, of Shenandoah, Va., was indicted on two Class 4 felonies for forgery of public records and forgery of employee records. The offense in both cases occurred on Dec. 1, 2020, according to court records, with an arrest date of Dec. 15, 2020. Knowles is scheduled to appear in court again on April 21 for further proceedings.

Brandon Lee Miller, of Luray, Va., was indicted on three felony charges including pettit larceny (Class 6), pettit larceny greater than $5 pick pocket (Class 6), and possession of a Schedule I/II drug (Class 5). The two pettit larceny charges occurred on Nov. 12 and Nov. 16, respectively, with arrest dates of Jan. 16, 2020 and Nov. 17, 2019. The drug possession charge stemmed from an incident on April 8, 2019, according to court documents, with an arrest date of Feb. 9, 2020. Miller is scheduled to appear in court again on May 26 for further proceedings.

Ronald Lee Creel, of Luary, Va., was indicted on six felonies related to drug and weapon charges. Four of those charges were Class 5 felonies, two for possession of a Schedule I/II drug and two for possession of a controlled substance. Two charges were Class 6 felonies for possession or transporting a weapon as a convicted violent felon and possession of a gun while in possession of a Schedule I/II drug. All charges stem from incidents on June 14, 2020, according to court records, with an arrest date of Jan. 15, 2021. Creel is scheduled to appear in court again on May 26 for further proceedings.

Joey Wayne Shifflett, of Luray, Va., was indicted on three Class 5 felonies for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offenses occurred on July 2, 2020, Dec. 14, 2019 and Aug. 15, 2019, according to court documents. The offense on July 2, 2020 shows an arrest date of Oct. 23, 2020. The Dec. 14, 2019 offense shows an arrest date of July 21, 2020 — and the Aug. 15, 2019 offense shows an arrest date of July 24, 2020. No future court dates were listed.

Bobby Joe Cook, of Luray, Va. was indicted on a Class 6 felony for eluding or disregarding police and received a direct indictment for a Class 1 misdemeanor for reckless driving endangering life, limb and property. The offense and arrest date on both charges occurred on Nov. 5, 2020, according to court records. Cook will appear in court again on April 14 for further proceedings.

Matthew Wayne McAllister, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on two Class 5 felony charges for possession with intent to distribute marijuana (1/2 oz to 5 lbs). The offenses occurred on Nov. 12, 2018 and Aug. 11, 2020, according to court records, with an arrest date for both of Aug. 11, 2020. McAllister is scheduled to appear in court again on April 21.

Aaron Shane Addison, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on Dec. 15, 2019, according to court records, with an arrest date of Sept. 26, 2020. Addison is scheduled to appear in court again on April 21 for further proceedings.

Dannielle Atkins, of Luray, Va., received a direct indictment for a Class 5 felony for possession of Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on Aug. 12, 2020, according to court records, with no arrest date listed. Atkins’ status was listed as “fugitive” with no future court date noted.

Haley Storm Marie Hensley, of Elkton, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on Sept. 1, 2020, according to court records, with an arrest date of Sept. 2, 2020. Hensley is scheduled to appear in court again on May 19 for further proceedings.

Derek Anthony Johnson, of Timberville, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on Oct. 10, 2020, according to court records, with an arrest date of Jan. 18, 2021. Johnson is scheduled to appear in court again on April 28 for further proceedings.

Emmalee Lyn Kann, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a controlled substance. The offense and arrest occurred on May 13, 2020, according to court records. Kann is scheduled to appear in court again on May 19 for further proceedings.

Abe Lyle Manske, of Shenandoah, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and arrest occurred on July 7, 2020, according to court records. Manske is scheduled to appear in court again on May 26 for further proceedings.

Barbara Duane Miller-Allen, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and arrest occurred on Aug. 22, 2020, according to court records. Miller-Allen is scheduled to appear in court again on April 14 for further proceedings.

Nathan Edward Price, (no address listed), was indicted for felony possession with intent to manufacture a Schedule I/II drug (the felony was unclassified). The offense and arrest occurred on Aug. 5, 2020. Price is scheduled to appear in court next on May 26 for further proceedings.

Roger Wayne Woodward, of Upperville, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on Dec. 5, 2018, according to court records, with an arrest date of Dec.12, 2020. No future court date was listed.
