LURAY — The Shenandoah River Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will host its annual Fourth of July Children’s Parade at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 4 at Luray’s Inn Lawn Park. Participation is open to children of all ages.

Children are encouraged to dress in their most patriotic attire and decorate their favorite mode of transportation — a bicycle, tricycle, wagon or scooter (nothing motorized) — in their best red, white and blue and bring it to Inn Lawn Park (adjacent to the Page Public Library) for a patriotic July 4th display and march around the scenic park. Children may walk the parade as well.
The parade will be led by a police cruiser and a fire truck, accompanied by Mayor Stephanie Lillard. Miniature flags will be distributed to carry in the parade, which will follow a short circular route through the blocked-off streets surrounding the Park, from Jamison Avenue to Amiss Avenue to Cave Street and back to Inn Lawn.
Following the event, the Town of Luray and the Luray Downtown Initiative will host the “Downtown Get Down” from 5 to 9 p.m. The event includes multiple stages of live music, games, children’s activities and food vendors, with fireworks being launched from the fairgrounds at dusk.
