July grand jury issues 29 indictments against 17 individuals

LURAY, July 1 — Members of a grand jury in Page County Circuit Court issued a true bill on a total of 29 indictments handed down Wednesday, July 1 on charges placed against 17 individuals.
Those individuals indicted by the July 1 grand jury include:
• Ricky Lynwood Good, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 6 felony for possession of child pornography, and five Class 5 felonies for five subsequent charges of possession of child pornography. All offenses occurred on April 23, 2026, according to court records, with an arrest on May 19, 2026. Good is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2026 for a status hearing.
• Richard Chandler Knapp, of (no address listed), was indicted on a Class 5 felony for a registration violation as a Tier III sex offender (second offense). The offense occurred on March 31, 2026, according to court records, with an arrest on May 4, 2026. Knapp is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 24, 2026 for a hearing.
• Jace Charles Oates, of Stanley, Va. was indicted on a Class 6 felony for a registration violation as a Tier III sex offender. The offense occurred on Aug. 17, 2025, according to court records, with an arrest on March 31, 2026. Oates is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026 for a hearing.
• Shawn Alan Shifflett, of (no address listed), was indicted on two unclassified felonies for possession of stolen property with the intent to sell (valued at more than, or equal to, $1,000) and for grand larceny (property valued at more than, or equal to, $1,000). Both offenses occurred on Nov. 24, 2025, according to court records, with an arrest on Dec. 13, 2025. Shifflett is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026 for a hearing.
• Charles Shane Scott, of Mount Jackson, Va., was indicted on an unclassified felony for possession with intent to manufacture a Schedule I/II drug and a Class 1 misdemeanor for falsely identifying himself to law enforcement. Both offenses and an arrest occurred on Feb. 23, 2026, according to court records. Scott is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026 for a jury trial.
• Garrett Allen Macon, of Luray, Va., was indicted on an unclassified felony for grand larceny (property valued at more than, or equal to, $1,000) and a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The drug offense occurred on Oct. 1, 2025 and the larceny offense occurred on Nov. 19, 2025, according to court records, with an arrest for both offenses on Dec. 17, 2025. Macon is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026 for a hearing.
• Michael Fuller Reckard, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 6 felony for assaulting a law enforcement officer (or documented person) and a Class 4 misdemeanor for public intoxication. Both offenses and an arrest occurred on Feb. 22, 2026, according to court records. Reckard is scheduled to appear in court again at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 28, 2026 for a hearing. Reckard is also scheduled for a jury trial at 9 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 5, 2026.
• Jay W. Funk, of Shenandoah, Va., was indicted on a Class 6 felony for felony possession of a weapon (ammunition, not gun). The offense occurred on March 27, 2026, according to court records, with an arrest on April 30, 2026. Funk is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 to enter a plea.
• Amy Lee Dinges, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on two Class 5 felonies for two counts of possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offenses occurred on Nov. 12 and Nov. 17 of 2025, according to court records, with an arrest for both charges on Nov. 26, 2025. Dinges entered a guilty plea for both charges on July 8, 2026. On one drug charge, she was sentenced to three years in prison with 2 years and 10 months suspended and two years of supervised probation upon her release. On the other drug charge, Dinges was sentenced to three years in prison with all three years suspended and two years of supervised probation upon her release.
• Jessica Elizabeth Balkon, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug and a Class 1 misdemeanor for driving while intoxicated (second offense). Both offenses and an arrest occurred on March 16, 2026, according to court records. Balkon is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 for a hearing.
• Edgar Allen Hewitt, of Front Royal, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug and a Class 1 misdemeanor for the unauthorized possession of drug paraphernalia. Both offenses and an arrest occurred on Feb. 21, 2026, according to court records. Hewitt is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 for a hearing.
• Trucker Lane Aleshire, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on Nov. 18, 2025, according to court records, with an arrest on Nov. 26, 2025. Aleshire is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026 for a status hearing.
• Terry Lee Dodson II, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and an arrest occurred on Feb. 6, 2026, according to court records. Dodson is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2026 for a hearing.
• Darrell William Freeze, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and an arrest occurred on Jan. 23, 2026, according to court records. Freeze is scheduled to return to court at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026 for a hearing.
• Robert Michael Johnson, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and an arrest occurred on March 11, 2026, according to court records. Johnson is scheduled to return to court at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026 for a hearing.
• Kristine Renee Purdham, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on Nov. 3, 2025, according to court records, with an arrest on April 3, 2026. Purdham is scheduled to return to court at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026 for a hearing.
• Preston S. Purdie, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and an arrest occurred on Jan. 28, 2026, according to court records. Purdie is scheduled to return to court at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026 for a hearing.
Grand jury hearings are held the first Wednesday of each month in Page County Circuit Court.
