Luray High School junior Jaidyn McClung earned second team All-State honors in volleyball when the Virginia High School League announced selections on Tuesday, Nov. 30. Last month, McClung was named the Bull Run District Player of the Year and earned first team All-Region honors in volleyball, despite the Bulldogs’ (11-10) early exit in both post-season tournaments.

Floyd County senior setter, Kenzee Chaffin, was named the Class 2 Player of the Year in volleyball, and Glenvar head coach Mark Rohrback is the Class 2 Coach of the Year. Rohrback led the Highlanders to a 23-3 record and the Class 2 state championship with a 3-0 win (25-16, 25-20, 25-14) over Central (Woodstock) in the finals. Chaffin led Floyd County to a 23-3 record and a spot in the state semifinals.

Central represented the Bull Run District well as the state runner-up, in addition to having three players earn All-State honors — senior Emily Funkhouser, first team; senior Ella Toothman, second team; and senior Viliane Luyando, second team (defensive specialist).

East Rockingham had two players earn All-State recognition — senior Margo Fox, first team; and junior Madelyn Williams, second team.

VHSL All-State Volleyball comprises eight players regardless of position, plus a libero and defensive specialist.
