GLEN ALLEN, June 28 — The Shenandoah Rec League’s 12U all-stars dominated the 10-team field at the 2026 Virginia Babe Ruth 12U State Softball Tournament held June 25-28 at RF&P Park in Glen Allen. Shenandoah posted a perfect 4-0 record and outscored their opponents 77-14 en route to the 2026 Virginia State Championship.
“That’s an astounding 77-14 run differential, showcasing the hard work, determination, and teamwork this group displayed from the first pitch to the final out,” reads a statement by the Shenandoah Rec League posted on social media Sunday.
“To our players, you represented Shenandoah with heart, grit, and class. To our coaches, thank you for your countless hours of dedication. And to the parents, families, and fans, thank you for cheering these girls on every step of the way.”
Shenandoah came out of the gate strong on Thursday, June 25 by defeating Gloucester 16-6 in an 11 a.m. matchup. The two teams would meet again in two days.
On Friday, Shenandoah ran over Charles City, 16-1 — once again in an 11 a.m. game — and then demolished Stafford, 22-4, in a 9 a.m. game on Saturday. Sunday’s championship round also started out at 9 a.m., and there would be no “if needed” round. Gloucester won three-straight games through the loser’s bracket to reach the title game, but Shenandoah would win the state championship by its largest margin of the tournament, 23-3.
The 20-point win in the title game capped off a perfect 4-0 record. Shenandoah’s 12U all stars won the Virginia State Championship in the fewest games possible — four — and they never started a game in the afternoon during the entire tournament.
“That team was a beast!!” stated Chad Austin in a comment on social media. “Great job girls and coaches loved being there to share such a unforgettable experience not just on the field, but the time they spent off the field [as well]…all I can say is the future is very bright!!”
Harper Batman was named the 12U state tournament Most Valuable Player. Her dominance in the circle was indisputable, striking out 18 in just 11 innings, allowing just four hits and no earned runs, and holding opposing batters to an incredible .114 batting average. She also made a huge impact at the plate with a strong offensive performance throughout the tournament.
“Harper’s leadership, determination, and clutch performances helped lead Shenandoah all the way to the State Championship game,” reads another statements on the League’s social media site. “We couldn’t be more proud of the way she represented our community.”
