Election Day for GOP primary for U.S. Senate race set for June 18

LURAY, April 30 — Five candidates will appear on the June 18 ballot in the Republican primary for the U.S. Senate seat up for grabs in the November general election. The winner of the GOP primary will face-off with Democrat incumbent Tim Kaine.

Early in-person voting begins in the Republican Senate Primary this Friday, May 3. Early voting will take place on the ground floor of the Page County Government Center, with easy access and parking in the rear of the South Court Street building, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Page County Voter registrar’s Office will keep early in-person voting open on two Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. — June 8, and the final day for early voting, June 15.

Election Day for the Republican Senate Primary will be Tuesday, June 18, with polls open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Whether voting early, or on Election Day, voters are reminded to bring proper identification to the polls.

    The November ballot will include federal races, such as the U.S. Senate seat and Republican Ben Cline’s seat in the House of Representatives (against Democratic challenger Ken Mitchell), as well as the race for the Oval Office. Town elections in Luray, Shenandoah and Stanley will be the only local choices on the Nov. 5 ballot.

    Tuesday, June 18 at 7 p.m. is also the deadline for local candidates to file their paperwork in local races in order to appear on the Nov. 5 ballot.
